Workers More Selective Than Ever

Choosy workers choose Paces

“Workers are more selective today than they were 10 years ago. One of our biggest issues today is retaining workers. We’ve been listening to our workers as never before.” said Lee Channell, Vice President of People Service and Development for AFC Enterprises. Because employees are being so selective, companies are having to offer ’the best of the best’ in benefits to attract and keep their best workers. In their book, The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America, authors Milton Moskowitz and Robert Levering researched the most unusual benefits that companies have offered to their employees. Here are some interesting examples:

  • Leo Burnett: Employees receive unlimited sick pay.
  • H.B. Fuller: Every employee who graduates college receives $2,000.
  • UNUM Corp: Employees receive 30 percent of their salary in one lump sum at the beginning of each year.
  • Johnson & Johnson: Newlywed employees receive one extra week’s vacation.
  • SAS Institute: All employees are entitled to free on-site child care.
  • Fel-Pro: Free income tax preparation, and free tutoring for school-age children.
